Auto Service Technician
Repairs and overhauls brake system, aligns wheels, axles, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms in automobiles, light trucks, and other automotive vehicles by performing the following duties:
- Performs accurate and thorough visual vehicle inspections.
- Tests vehicles for faulty wheel alignment, bent axle, worn ball joints, and bent steering rods.
- Straightens axle and steering rods and adjust shims, tie rods, and joining pins to align wheels, or install new parts.
- Installs shock absorbers and strut assemblies.
- Removes wheels, mounts and dismounts tires
- Understands alignment measurements and angles.
- Ensures all transactions are handled with honesty and integrity.
- Replaces defective brakeshoe units or attaches new linings to brakeshoes.
- Repairs or replaces, brake cylinders, air compressors, brakes, shocks and struts.
- Understands anti-lock braking systems.
- Responsible for maintenance of equipment.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must posses a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or teammates of organization.
- Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) certified in front end, alignment, air conditioning, and brakes is mandatory within one year of hire.
Physical Demands
- Regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds
- Stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Specific for close vision.
- Squat or bend while lifting a minimum of 25 pounds and possibly up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to enter/exit various vehicles.
- Must be able to communicate with guests and teammates.
Tire Specialist
To successfully complete all assigned guest work orders related to accurate repair and replacement of guest tires.
Responsibilities
- Completes all assigned duties including but not limited to, tire installations and repairs, lube oil and filter work and other tire related service work.
- Organizes and maintain all tools, equipment, parts and accessories to assure ease of use and safety.
- Ensures proper completion of vehicles.
- Removes wheels, mounts and dismounts tires.
- Maintains a professional image through effective guest interactions.
- Ensures all transactions are handled with honesty and integrity.
- Ensures required percentage of vehicle safety inspections.
- Removes and replaces vehicle batteries.
- Drives vehicles in/out of shop bays and on hoists.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must posses a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or teammates of organization.
- Honesty and integrity are mandatory.
